SR86 as a drift car
Hello.
Before coming to the car I want to introduce myself. My name is Clemens, I am from Austria and I am involved in drifting afew years now.
My first time driving aan 86 was coincidence. My own car needed some repair from a winter drifting session ( You can tell trees a hundred times, they just don´t move otu of your way) and I nedded to go to work, so a friend of mine was so kind to let me drive his ae86. My working place was on a mountain and the road up there was mostly covered with snow. Although the car was in a bad OEM standard, I really liked its handling and compact size and I was quite impressed about the power from the 4age. A few month later I crashed my drift car (Skyline R33 GTST) into a wall, transforming it into a big yunk metal part.
Competition time was over and I needed a new car.
I always liked the power of the skyline, but for the small courses here in austria, the car was almost to big and heavy. So wanted to combine the handling and agility of the 86 with more powerform a turbo engine.
Luckily I got my hand son a chassis, which was completely prepared for the group-a really championship. There was FIA-approve cage in it, it was rust free( It turned out, that it was "almost" rust free, so I sandblasted and painted it again) and structural parts where reinforced and the whole chassis was seam welded, so a nice base to start from.
The SR20 is a logicla jchoice for me, since it was done quite often, so there are already engien and transmission mounts avalaible and the aftermarket support for the SR20 is nearly second to none in my opinion.
Nut now enough words, here is the car:
