SR5 to GTS LSD conversion
Ok, so I'm ready to begin the process of turning my sr5 into an actual drift car. I do plan on a 4ag swap down the road, but for now I figure switching from open diff to LSD is probably one of the first steps I should take. However, I don't really know much about differentials except where they are located and the theory of how they work. Can you put an LSD into an sr5 without doing an engine swap, and what does it involve?

Ofcourse you can do a LSD swap, but I think it probably won't make much difference unless you drive on roads with less traction. (e.g. wet tarmac, gravel, mud).

Really? I was thinking it would help me with maintaining my drifts, instead of slowing down to exit... but I am still quite a novice so I'm probably wrong lol.

Also what would it take to do the swap? Obviously the LSD, but other than that would I need any other parts? I have rear drum brakes, not sure if that would be an issue.

Well, it depends on what you call drifts then. Tongue

As for the parts: you need a 6.38 inch lsd. It is smaller due to the axle housing being smaller than the GTS housing, so a GTS lsd won't fit.

Another solution would be if you would swap the whole axle, but then you need to convert your brakesystem as well.
