Update!!!

Started putting the front end back on

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Then the back end

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Then decided to sell this

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

For this and took a bit of time away from the Corolla

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Then got the bug again so:

Due to how the seats will be mounted the bracket for the boot and fuel flap pulls had to be located so now resides on the cage between the driver and navigators seats

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Boot catches fitted so they bolt behing the plastic trim to the body shell - tidy!

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Trial fitment of the Safety Devices Evolution cage that GeoPrep build

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Bespoke Carbon Fibre look composite door cards made by GeoPrep (the marks are just dust)

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Bracket build into transmission tunnel for the vertical hydraulic handbrake. GeoPrep over engineered it so it wouldnt flex with my 15stone yanking on the end of the bar!

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

A bit more of the climbing frame and the flocked dash (thats just a bit of dust on the dash)

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Rear inner panels made of the same material as the door cards

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Crap pic but the mirrors are now black to match the rear light surrounds

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Bonnet Pins fitted

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

After 14 months without turning over she started on the key first time and we did a leak down check and everything is perfecto (apologies for the quality but I only had my mobile with me)

(video removed as it links to my photobucket account - will try and host it elsewhere)

So thats the update for now - chap should be coming from the MSA to logbook her this week

I thought I had more pics but they might be on the other PC so I'll have a look somethime and post them if they're there.

Cheers

Rich

Thanks so much for the comments!!

this week a nice man from the MSA came over to Logbook it for motorsport use. He's more than happy with the quality of the build and issued the logbook without question. Just needed to explain that certain bits were on order

Parp! Needed one of these, with a foot push button mounted nav side (one of the bits on order)

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Compressor mounts nicely to the inner panel

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Apparently these are important LOL so Geoprep fab'd up a recess for them to live it

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Which run to the autolec -

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

through the bulkhead

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

to the interior cut-off

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Then we got the old important fat bloke sized FIA seats and harnesses in - nice and far back and as low as possible on the navigator side

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Switches for spot lights and driving lights and plotting lights and intercom and poti plug

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Which needed fusing so Dean made this

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Which will sit in a modified glove box so its a) easy to get at but b) nicely tucked out of the way

Daylight!!!!

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Mounted like this

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

And will be wired up soon - still got a fair way to go - hopefully new gearset and transmission after Xmas

So all in all a successful and productive day on the heap

Heap update time:

Kill switch, spotlight toggles and interior power switches all wired up and fitted in the centre console

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Remember this?

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Well its now a proper auxillary fusebox for the switch panel nicely built into the glovebox

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Still left me a bit of space for ciggies and phone LOL

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Last Xmas my Nanna (85) lol bought me this from driftworks - bless her!

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

But because the wheel is so dished and the buckets seats are so deep and the door bars are there and I'm a fat coont I needed to fit a snap off boss purchased from evilBay

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Spotlights are on

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

and working - they have a sidelight bulb in them and are wired for sides only - top 2 with bottoms off fully - bottom 2 with tops fully off and all on = full daylight

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Also tightened the rear suspension up (still waiting for news on the driftworks coilover kits) and did the final mounting of the front and rear bumpers

Quick question, does this look about right for full lock using the Battle Version kit 2, the car's a PAS model

Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu
As the 'box was a bit notchy from 3rd to 2nd I decided instead of bringing it out for a rebuild I'd go the whole hog and bang a Tran-x type 9 in.

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Geoprep then finished the interior with some hand-made plates

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

And plumbed in the lines for the hydraulic h/brake and bias adjuster

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

And then did the final spanner check

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

And finally I got it home on Tues evening - 16 months after taking it off the road for the rebuild, took it for the MOT on Thurs where it sailed through and, seeing as my other main hobby is detailing cars I made the most of the fine weather today to detail it

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Rich's AE86 projectu - 56K crashu]

Insurance is proving difficult as Adrian Flux have moved the goalposts and well and truely dicked me over, so I'll spent tomorrow getting a decent company to sort it, then final shakedown on friday and Colerne airfield day on Saturday all being well

Cheers
