Easy mistake.

Need to make s13 gravel rally coilovers now?????
Not easy as there is not longstroke s13 coilovers available. thinking of getting celica gt4 ones & swapping the top-hat.

For rallying, my dumb opinion, would be to stick to things that are known to work and easy to replace. That might be the case with stock GT4 celica stuff. I don't know enough about them to make an educated guess.

A couple of setups have been proven time and time again. Best known example is the Escort MK2 GP4. Eerily similar to the AE86.
In the front they run simple linear valved bilsteins that come in 3 valvings and two lengths. Gravel, Forest en Asfalt or something along those lines. They are rallied in huge numbers and front running cars often compete with WRC stuff on the same 90gbp bilstein dampers.

They'll drop right into a AE86 strut housing if you drill the bottom of the strut for the retaining nut. That would be my approach with stock length AE86 struts.

Steal your spring rates from the Escorts too. The dampers will be valved for them (huge advantage) and you get to use decades of competition experience. 5kg might be a tad too much.
Corner weight/motion ratio's etc. are all extremely close, so thing are comparable

Rear escort shock will drop right in. Come to think of it, a lot of rally 86 in the UK and Eire run Escort stuff, complete with the struts and the Atlas rear axle.

Simple, cheap and proven. IMHO too big of an advantage to start mucking about and experimenting.

I already have bilsteins for the rear ae86 ones, I would go for normal rally spec bilstein insert coilovers but I have an s13 front set-up with wider track which I like & want to keep. Getting the ride height correct will be difficult.
How long is a stock ae86 front shock absorber, I wonder if im over thinking it. as in maybe s13 & ae86 front shocks are the same length & I just need a coilover kit.
