You will no worries.
Fingers crossed it's ready by Aug 17th for our annual event at the workshop.
Hope to see you there too.

Received the estimated cost last week and damn will it burn a whole in my pocket.
As usual I had a rough figure in mind and naturally assumed 50% more.
Turned out it'll be much closer to 100% more than the figure I had in mind.

So expect to see some spare parts up for sale soon.
Unfortunately it also won't be ready for the garage party. It'll be a long wait but very much worth the result.

While mine doesn't have such a special history indeed it does help.

Thanks

Prices are soaring for the Zs as well! Huh
I can understand such high prices for cars with a special history, so for a restored 240Z with that history it could be in high demand. Or a hakosuka with some pedigree (e.g. original GT-R spec) could also fetch high prices. What I don't get are the Supra A80 prices lately...

1982 - TA60 Carina 4dr sedan - fun cruiser
1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project
2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver
2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain

So it's been a fair while but an update nonetheless.
Due to racing season and general a busy time at both places (my mechanic and the panelbeater) everything goes much slower.
Anyway whent today to the panelbeater to check on one of the fender which will need replacing as it's been badly repaired before. Replacement is already on it's way there so all is good.
It'll be January before it goes into paint but as I'm leaving the country next week that doesn't bother me anymore.
On the positive note the engine was opened up (needs a new head gasket) and no bad surprises came to light).
Alas some pictures of it's current sorry state:

Looks pretty good overall for its age. I don't envy the guy who has to repair the door, looks like a very skilled job.
But from the look of the rear arches I'd say you have the right guy doing the work.

I am very fortunate to know the the local specialist, my mechanic and the panelbeater have more than 60 years of experience on this model combined.
It's not cheap by a long shot but completely worth it.
The transition of the arches are going to be tinned. If you know anything about bodywork that sais it all.
