Hello,
Greetings! My name is Cool and I have recently acquired a smallport head and have some questions about the services you provide.

Fast Forward 13+ months....... OST-015 will be a ported smallport head. It will be mounted on top of a 7A. The builder will be using 4AGE high comp pistons. As of last report the builder is using Tri-Flow cams. The engine will be mounted in a 1989 MR2(AW11)..... and it will be using full emissions since the car, engine, and owner all reside in California.

More to come..... when it arrives

that should be tomorrow.

Hmmmm, once opened Confused Whats this?

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - OST-015: The long and winding road.....]

A big block of styrofoam!

Once the block of styrofoam is removed....

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - OST-015: The long and winding road.....]

what should appear but a smallport head with 8 pairs of valves...

The head has been mostly cleaned, there is still some carbon left in the exhaust ports, and some residual debris caught in the casting

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - OST-015: The long and winding road.....]

Well got down to some work today....Big Grin

Below are a pair of port comparison... exhaust 1st....

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - OST-015: The long and winding road.....]

This was one of those tough to take photos... the ported one. I had to defuse about 25% of the light so that the photo would be clear.

On the intake side....

More to come Big Grin

Nice Smile

BTW. do you have any chart or dyno's, before and after ?
All your work look impressive, even better is the fact that you share your knowledge and work.
And since you are taking the different routes with different heads, it would be interesting to see what made the difference.

Will a flow bench read out be sufficient?

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - OST-015: The long and winding road.....]

It use to cost me about $150 per chamber to get before, and after readings. $600 per head is VERY costly. I take what I've learned, and applied it to what I do

from another forum Wrote:I'm curious what accommodations you've made for the 7A.

I've made no unusual accomodations for 7A use. The client is using Supertech std size valves, I'm de-shrouding the chambers, and I'm re-tapering the exhaust ports to allow higher volume. I'm also "opening" up the top of the smallport intake port to expose the outer port walls/channel

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - OST-015: The long and winding road.....]

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - OST-015: The long and winding road.....]

speaking about deshrouding the chambers, here are chambers #1(left), and #2(right) I've not only deshrouded the chamber, but I've deburred the chamber edge. To get a good idea, look at the chamber edge on the right hand side, chamber 2, note the left hand intake - now look at the edge of the chamber in that area... see the ragged edge. If you look around the left hand view, no such ragged edge

A somewhat familiar photo for one of my porting logs.... There is no special lighting...

2 exhaust ports down.... 2 to go.

And accompanying it... 2 chambers down, 2 chambers to go...
