well you flush it using the little tap at the bottom of the radiator, and you can also drain the engine from all coolant with a bolt somewhere on the exhaust side. Flush your engine with a garden hose if you havent installed it yet..just to get the worst crap out. Also clean out your water tubing from the worst crud. Then when everything is installed, run the engine on tap water for a short drive and flush it completely...keep repeating untill the water coming out isnt dark brown anymore...then fill up with proper coolant.
This doesnt belong in the oil thread however, so please refer to you project thread for further questions

When i changed the oil on my hachi i was told that the previous owner used castrol GTX 15w40. I have put 15w40 Mobil oil in because i can get it really cheap. Now i am thinking of using 10w40 oil i will propably try somethink from valvoline. The engine on my red hachi has been swapped and i was told it has low mileage on it. Too bad that they dont have used synth oil in. But on the other side the 4A-GE is an old engine and in shop i was told it will be better to stick with some 10w40 oil.
I changed the oil filter too i used FRAM. Some local guy told me that it fits perfectly and he mentioned that NIPPARTS fits good too he is running 4AGE too.
I will propably try to use TOYOTA oil filter by next change.
One thing that i have forgot... the guy that tell me about the oil filters is using in his 4A-GE Texaco 10w40 and his liftback is running pretty good.

so i have bought

10w-40 castrol magnatec GTX for engine and Valvoline 75w-90 GL-4 for transmision and diff.

I heard you talking about LSD oil.. is that diffrent from oil for standard diffs? i have LSD, and dont wanna ruin something..

Quote:Valvoline 75w-90 GL-4 for transmision and diff.

This is NOT suitable for rear end, even without LSD !
For rear end use only GL5 oils. I bought Motul 90 LSD oil for ~6EU/litre - this is not so much.

Apolan, the Toyota dealer here sells "Toyota" oil (Valvoline indeed) for LSD rear ends. Any quality 90 GL5 LSD oil will work. Motul, Castrol, Mobile, Valvoline, BP (avoid Shell) and maybe the cheapest between quality oils - Elf.

Apolan,

You can't use GL5 for the gearbox, use your GL4, so buying that oil isn't a total waisteSmile

For the rear end indeed GL5 is the way to go, make sure its specifically for LSDs! You also have GL5 for non LSD and you're LSD will not like its taste. With valvoline its got the LS extention for LSD suitable oil.

Valvoline is making some interesting oil for engine he cost twice like DuraBlend 10w40 and his name is VR1 Racing 10w60 should i try Smile ?
For the transmission is here SynPower TDL 75w90 GL-3/4/5 that cost twice like DuraBlend GL-4 i readed about not to use GL5 oil in transmission so i dont know if i should use it.
