OBX Exhaust Systems
Ok, I did a full measurement of the inner pipe diameters of the OBX exhaust system and its scary.

Header first piece connected to the head. 51MM end pipe

First connection pipe on the header is 48mm ?????

Then you miss the catalytic converter

The end pipe starts at 49mm and the last piece over axle is 56mm

??????? So if I look at the system I would say I can scrap the mid sections and make em custom. That way I can increase diameter of the piping from 51mm from the header to 56 in the end. instead of making the air collapse onto stainless steel plating.

I have to calculate the perfect flow. I guess the first piece and last piece are of good value but the mid sections just suck ...... So if you can weld stainless steel you can turn this into an amazing exhaust but if not Its a good one for a slightly modified engine. But if you really start tuning the flow will be so fucked up that it will cost a lot of performance.

I will post pictures when I mount it to the car and show what kind of mid section I will create

How much does it weigh Lennert? I'm going to add 40 odd kilograms to the nose of my car so need to lose some weight there...also Ivan will be wanting his header back some time in the future.

Could you throw it onto some scales for me? Dumb question

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear

didn't weight it but the system weighs alot less than standard. Think Oldskull still has the header seperate.

Now the full info

The OBX system was build for a exhaust with catalyst converter.

The missing piece

The fill up

The result

Conclusion, the OBX system is a cheap way to replace original. Its loud and doesn't come with a silencer. The quality is decent. Thought I had to weld a small leak in the connector part of the header (wasn't welded shut)

If you are handy the OBX system is a good "upgrade" from original but don't think its direct swap.

You forgot to mention that it nearly touches the chassis floor under your feet. This wouldnt be important to mention if you werent using cusco lower engine and gearbox mounts that bring the engine down a notch.
There's a good chance that it simply would foul the chassis otherwise.

Also you have shortened the rear silencer mount and it is still quite low to the ground (the bend before it goes up over the diff). And you had to weld a hole shut that was left open on the flange of the downpipe.

Just a warning so people dont go thinking it is a good fit, because it just isnt.
For the money it is not strange that you have to do some modding to fit it, as robo demonstrated it can be pulled off with some minor welding.

Mine is a 4-2-1 header and I had to recurb the entire thing. See pics in: http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic/ae86/t/42...start=2300
