My Project has started...
Some more progress in my rebuild.

Not as much as i would like but i don't enough spare time for the car.

Also some delay with parts delivery are slowing the rebuild.

Engine bay present condition, the engine is missing. It went to the machinery shop to be completely reconditioned.

Brake calipers sand blaste, painted and rebuilded
Also the new bushes for the front tension rods

Rear axle sand blasted and painted with electrostatic paint, it's possible also to see the front suspension with TRD springs and koni sport shocks. My suspension's technician was able to modify the shocks in order to avoid the spring's floating.

The interior... still very empty... already mounted and dismounted the instrument panel 4 or 5 times.

The rear suspension, or not... with powerflex bushes, the rods were also sandblasted and painted with electrostatic paint.
Very clean... i like it a lot...

The underside view...

The back with whiteline tailights... sweet...

Thanks Jan,

this is just about what i was thinking. A year or so. I have some rust and i'll have some cut and welding job to do. I was tinking of sandblusting the whole chassis but this way to much.

Another question is the cost of the whole job but i think this has to do with lots of factors.

My Project has started...
Well, i bought the car in September 2005.

It seemed to be in nice condition, during pre-buying inspection, i could only found one accident evidence on the front right side, but i was also already aware that it had rollover in the past.

Then i started the vehicle dissasemble and found some rust spots and also some holes not made to reduce the vehicle's weight. Angry

On September 2006, the vehicle went to the body and paint specialist to be completely repaired (body), however the repair started only in the begining of this year and ended on June.

Since that date i'm working with Lipinhu (and sometimes with another friends) to turn the car as new as possible (considering my wallet capacity).
I think i had already spend more that 5000€ in Toyota OEM parts and another 3000€ in non Toyota OEM parts, but to be honest i'm not paying attention to that... Only because i don't want to scar my self at the end... I prefer not to know exactly how much i'm spending in the rebuild.
If my girlfriend or parents would imagine... my god... i only can imagine the pain... Cool

Well, as you all could imagine, this car have already many hundreds of labour that can't be considered as an expense.
But if you want something well done you should do it yourself, there's nothing like the owner's love...
The restoration of each small part is a hard job, with no value for the other people who see it but with a very high importance for you, when you fit it back in the car...

This is the vehicle condition at the day it arrived to my home... Very pimp style imho.

Rasteirinho,

i would like to stay in those words

"But if you want something well done you should do it yourself, there's nothing like the owner's love...

"

This is exactly what i feel too! I want to restore the car and i know it is not an easy job. I see you have a very nice place with a lot of space to work on your own. I have a smaller one but i think i could do it.

I have a friend of mine who will help me! He does argon welding and everything that has to so with bodywork, even painting. He said that he would help me and he is really good.

I think thats the only hope not to spend a lot of money on a bodyshop.

Anyway thanks for your reply and sorry for the offtopic!

Keep up the good job
