Mintex brake pad MDB1193
Hi,

are all Mintex MDB1193 the 1144 material?
I bought Mintex pads MDB1193 which, according to some topic here is the 1144 material. But the box is different than what I saw before (doesn't mention Mintex racing ...)

Thanks!

AFAIK they used to be also available in 1155 material but we were only able to source the 1144 material back in a day:

The 1155 is "normal" material not racing type? I read a lot of positive things about the 1144 when putting high stress on the brakes but mine are fading quite easy. At least they are worse than the black diamond pads i had. So i have the 1155 probably...

MDB1193 is just the brake pad model number I'm afraid. We used to order those pads and specify we wanted 1144 material, which then came as a sort of added code (MDB1193-1144). You probably have the standard grade pads.
1155 is supposed to be a more aggressive compound so I doubt you have that.
Mintex 1144 is hard to get your hands on these days, but there should be enough alternatives..

As Ivan already mentioned 1155 is more aggressive compound. Mintex advices to not use 1155 or 1166 for street usage because their operating temperature is higher than normal pads. That means you will have to brake often enough to keep them warm and do their job properly. Wink

You can still buy the OEM Brake pads from Toyota, they are really good, I have them now on my KE70 (with AE86 brakes and suspension).

i found this set somewhere in the UK at camskill.co.uk.

after ordering and paying i had to wait for 6 weeks because they werent in stock.they came in a mintex racing box.only did a small test run so far.

front and rear pads costed me something in around 120 euro including postage.

I had to modify the front pads a little to fit (according to another topic somewhere on this forum)and when i brake the car has the tendancy to pull to the left, havent had time to look into that either.

hope this info is of some help.

Thanks. I'll have a look at it.
About the pull to one side:
Make sure the pads are burnished enough.
If you had to re-shape the backplate make sure they are not stuck in the caliper and can slide.
