Ivan141 Wrote:The trueno lettering is very different (wider and lower), also the word APEX is written in the same font as trueno on the ae92 decals, whilst it is a different font on the ae86 (just look at the letter E).

Ivan, we had a good look at the parts ordering system when we popped down to Toyota yesterday. Turns out that the decals we received superceded the AE86 originals, so are listed as replacements, so basically it states that the AE92 decals are replacement decals for the GT Apex.

Got a refund on the decals which bought us 5 litres of Longlife which we'll need when we change the thermostat.

Back from the bodyshop and the AE86 is looking mint after all the minor body repairs have been done. Wonder what it's worth now? Wink

Balls, have just noticed that he's painted the rear bumper gloss black, when it should be satin black. Think it's going to have to go back.

Mark has been busy with a little project I suggested for the car. He is making a digital oil temp/press water temp display unit.

Basically it is to go in place of the ashtray. The top line gives maximum pressures.
The corresponding lines state oil temp/press and water temp.

There are bar graphs that rise with temperature/pressure, in the vids these are set at different scales and it's just scrolling through.

Reckon it'll be a cool touch though. Earlier on he had it saying 'Version 2.0, for The Corolla Brotherhood'.

New pads arrived today. They are Hawk racing pads, not DS2500's as I was led to believe. I don't mind that though they were excellent on the teg.

Trouble is they don't fit, exactly the same problem as the EBC's ie inner pad backing plate lug is outside the torque bracket. :-:

Okay we have sorted it. Decided to use the good old fashioned method of a piece of coarse sandpaper on the patio. We took off 1mm off the inner pads.

That did the trick and now it is locating properly. Have just been to bed them in and warm those brakes up. Initial impressions are pretty good.

For reference they are Hawk Racing Pads. I had the same pads on my DC2 and they were very good. Will feedback how I get on with them.

I'm glad it's not just me then. I think a lot of people will just put the pad in and not worry about it. I didn't have any backing plate on the pads.

Or do you mean the disc dust shield which should duct air to the discs?
