KAAZ 2 way LSD
Hi mates,

As you know i fitted a KAAZ 2 way LSD in my AE86.
I had already performed the break-in procedure as explained on KAAZ site and changed the diff oil (i'm using now the KAAZ oil).

However, there still was many noises (chattering and clunking) coming from the rear end.

Today i drove the car for 100 Km on a twisted road and i think it didn't change anything.

Do you know after how many km the LSD will become quiter?
Because it's very annoying to drive the car in this condition, especially on the city.
Everybody on the sidewalk stands looking to the car waiting for something to break.

I'm already considering buying another LSD (1 way or something less hardcore)...

Thanks for your help...

I had lots of noise after my first oil change. I guess it didn't really break in after those 8-figures and first oil change.

I changed the oil then for the second time and it became very quite, like the stock lsd.

I only hear my ring and pinion now, but that doesn't have much to do with the lsd.

I use Valvoline 80W90 LS.

Hello
I would recommend using a 75W140 oil for a 75% LSD. I use Castrol SAF-XJ.

I would change the oil one more time.
The brake in procedure is not really fully engaging the lsd plates.

My lsd became loud after the first oil change when I did some donuts/drifting.

At first I thought that is was normal, you always hear people say lsd's are noisy. But I decided to change the oil one more time to be sure.

So did that and my diff has been as quite as the stock unit since then!

I just think that the oil was "worn out" very fast after the first real work of the lsd plates.

So I would try that instead of waiting for it to become quite by itself. Wink

rasteirinho ... you have to use LSD oil ... gearbox oil will premature wear you LSD

from Silkolene you have the " Silkolene BOA 90LS "

This Silkolene BOA 90LS oil is specifically designed for use in high performance (plated) limited slip differentials (LSDs)
This includes the LSDs fitted to cars like the BMW and Toyota Corolla as well as aftermarket LSDs like Kaaz, Cusco, TRD, OS Giken

from motul you have the MOTUL 90 PA LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL FLUID

Specially designed for limited slip differential and hypoid gear rear axles, this high performance mineral gear oil is perfectly suited for use in racing cars, 4 x 4's and passenger cars. If you have aftermarket clutch type LSD's (Nismo, KAAZ, Cusco, Mazda Comp. etc.) this oil is meant for your clutch type LSD. API GL5, MIL-L-2105-D, ZF TE ML.

there are some oils specially designed for limited slip differentials , they are hard to find in Portugal though

normal gear box oil will trash your LSD plates in no time ....
