Ok then.

There are losts of different engine conversion about for the Hachi but what are the Pros/Cons of each one, The cost of the conversion, and gains

conversion i know of

the F20c from the S2000
SR20det from the 200sx
SR20DE from the Silvias
4agze from the AW11
4AGZE from the later FWD Corolla
20v ST and 20v BT 4AGE
3sgte from MR2 Turbo
a Rotary of some form

looking for any info from people who have done these conversions.

how much did it cost all in etc.

I will probably be doing my own conversion at the end of next year, and I still do not know what route to go down. SO I am looking for ideas people and associated costs

simple, can you do everything yourselve? that saves the most of money. Equipment costs depends on how "far"you go with the extra's. If you put in a 20v and hit/cut the firewall and do a simple waterline reroute you and you do all yourselve it isn't an expensive thing.

If you want the waterlne kit for the ae86 difrrent ehaders etc its an expensive thing.

SO first. Will you do everything yourselve? And I would go for the option.

Pick engine first. save up for the total converion. Than you have what you want.

"84 AE86 Zenki Blue Levin (project racer)

"08 BMW R1200GS

first figure out what you want, NA or turbo engine will give you quite a bit different results when you are done.
Turbo engine will give you a lot of extra work on intercooler, piping etc.
But it can give you an enormous amount of power with upgrade turbo's etc.

Dont forget you have to do suspension, brakes and maybe even another heavier axle/diff.

Robokill most of the work can be carried out by me and my friends.

Only thing that could really give us pause would be the wiring.

THe problem i have is I always said I would not turbo the hachi yet I want 200bhp plus from the car so that means I am going to have to turbo it really, Unless I go the F20c route which is 240bhp from the factory I think.

I am just looking to see what the costs involved in each conversion are really, Pros Cons of each one

Forget the 3S-G(T)E if you aint got the Altezza tranny or Carina Bellhousing Confused ... even so, the T50 might not be up to the job.

I would keep it simple, like Blacktop, though If you want serious power go for the SR20DET very cheap and easy to find in UK.

If you're going for supra boxes: don't forget menti's 7M-GTE conversion. Tongue

basically if you stay with an na 4age, you can expect drive line reliability that you can live with. maybe a mild 4agze too.

anything beyond this, and you will need a stronger gearbox and diff really. so its alot more money/time/headaches.

on a forum like this where theres alot of people from different places its also hard to make suggestions.

some engines that are cheap/available/people know how to wire/tune in one place, cant be said for another.

if youre really thinking of doing some of the wilder conversions, one thing i will say is done settle on say a 20v.. you probably be disappointed.

The chances of me going for one of the 20v engines is pretty slim. To be honest i am looking at engines like the sr20det and the 3sgte.

Oh and any info on the 7mgte. Looks to be the same kind of power as the 3sgte.

I would more than likely use a hilux axle with a supra diff and supra gear box or whatever the box for the engine is but i think you can get am adapter to make the supra box fit almost any engine if i go for Big power

You can find the 7mgte conversion here:
http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic/7mgte-corolla/t/4636
And you can even buy it:

Tongue

7MGTE is probably one of the more difficult swaps: you will have less space to play because of the size of the engine. It would be more streightforward to go for the sr20 or ca18
