Going 20V BT!
Heyo guys!

It's time to think about other ways on my refreshed Levin now Trueno... The engine marks 170000Km's and it's now giving me valve noises sign that this engine needs a tune!

Well, about this tune i now face 3 options...

- A complete overhaull on my current engine (probably never opened)
- A small fix on the engine (saving money to buy something better)
- A 20V that is my final goal when i talk about engines

My engine doesn't knock whatsoever and has alot of power to give, last week i made a national gathering in Portugal and the engines handled it like a bawss... so....

The issue here is the 20V fixing... What are really my options when using the 20V ECU? I don't wanna go squirt... Keeping the stock ECU on the 20V is my goal.

Relocate the dizzy: I know i have to relocate it... But, what are my options?

COP's - Can i run COPS and use the stock ECU? How so? Will i have wasted sparks?

Thanks for the input!

If you are going 20V BT, then I strongly recommend that you use the
factory ECU, factory trumpets and airbox (modified for RWD) and the
factory ignition system. COP's do nothing for performance, and can cause
a lot of grief if they don't work well first up.

Keep the dissy and modify the firewall. If you don't want to do that, get
a quality dissy relocation kit, and put it in front. Seriously... if you want an
engine that starts and runs like stock... keep everything factory. The 20V
BT is highly optimised from the factory, and you really have to know
what you are doing to improve on the factory setup.

If you like modifying (and who doesn't Tongue ) then do the swap with
everything stock, and drive it for 6 months. That way, you know if your
modifications are making your car better or worse.

I will go 20V to run it stock! Stock engine + stock ECU.

The problem here is that i don't want to knock the firewall. Of at least that is not on my current plans...

Do i have good solutions when using a dizzy relocate kit? What are my best options here?

About banging the firewall, how much do i have to bang to fit the 20V? It's a pitty that i have to destroy my clean firewall.....

The solution when running COP's + stock ECU is that i can fir the 20V w/o banging the firewall which is like the thing i want.

Thanks for the input jondee!

Have a look here... http://s-86.com/s-parts-dizzy-kits.html

Relocates high tension parts to the front, and leaves the electronics at
the back. You can get the alloy cover for the electronics to keep them
safe. s-86 also do water relocation kits, so you could get proven product
at reasonable prices, and combine for shipping Smile

Sam provides good backup, speaks English, and is active on the forums
if you need to ask any questions.

What's the downturn running COP's with stock engine and OEM ECU? Thumbs up!

to be honest im only experienced with COP on honda's, and there they fail beacuse of heat or not maintained right

they overheat, melt to the sparkplug and the tip of the sparkplug melts too. the tip Drops in the Zylinder ...

on the early s2000 it's a common Problem, because of maintenance lag
on the turboed honda's because of massive heat

pack Wrote:What's the downturn running COP's with stock engine and OEM ECU? Thumbs up!

The factory ECU is not designed to run COP's. So you have to retain the
igniter (and sometimes coil also) to provide the IGf and IGt signals that
the ECU requires. Then you finish up with four "dumb" coils sitting on top
of the plugs, batch firing at four times the rate they were designed to fire.

It can be made to work, but offers no performance advantage over the
stock ignition system. Club4AG has hundreds of threads detailing the
problems people have with getting the DIY COP's to function. So I suggest
that if you want a system that works like factory with no problems, stay
with the dissy and relocation kit.

But if you want the "look" of COP's, and don't mind getting your car towed
home now and then, get a set of Civic COP's. s-86 even do a COP
mounting plate Smile

yes jondee you are right, it's not giving you any more power or Performance

it's just a cleaner and nicer solution, but in pack's case the dissy relocation kit is the better option

I'm only reading inputs to decide previously my move, if you know what i mean....

Thanks for the input!

I also think that a dizzy relocation kit is a better option than running COP's, i really want to look stock! Thumbs up!

Right now i don't have any more questions besides some water relocations kits, and using the 16V water pump.... I'm also reading a ton of projects about 20V swaps!

Any decent ones you know for me to read?

Thanks
