Fuck this. I'm lacking motivation. My condition has expanded and I'm struggling even in the mild Tassie summer to achieve anything. Poor car has been ignored for months.

Thnks man. Had a bit of a pity party.

Keen to get cracking. The weather had cooled a bit so I should be able to get some more done.

Had a bit of a side adventure in hospital again the last few days. Nothing disastrous, just another hiccup in the road.

So been a while lads.

I get bursts of enthusiasm in between hospital visits lol.

So the old girl has been on her side for a few weeks now, and hasn't blown over... Yay

As you can see there is some pretty average looking sills.

In my earlier days I was a little less than precise with the Jack...and there was a few beaching incidents lol

Anyways have had a plan to try and clean things up but have been putting it off for months.

Decided to dive right in.

Perfect from far, but far from perfect lol. It's a lot better than it was and will tidy up just fine with a bit of paint after I do the seam sealing.

There has been a slight change in direction. Because reasons, I am swapping the beams out for a 1uzfe. Long story but essentially I have received my permanent disability payout. After doing all the responsible things I have been left with a modest little budget to finish the little rolla. Won't be anything stupid or amazing. But it will be tidy and fun Smile

Who knows when it will get finished. Now it's purely a case of mental health. I don't know how long I'll live for. So having things to get up for each morning help me day to day. I may never finish her. But I enjoy every minute of learning and playing and bashing her with a hammer. Without this lump of legal to play with I would have given up a long time ago

Thanks for sharing the journey with me Guys

So in the background you can see a mates ke20

Really good condition little toy. He has some ae86 coil overs he wanted fitted. He takes pity on me and let's me okay cars on his toys lol.

So we had a few hurdles to overcome. The steering arms on these have a different spacing to the 86 stuff. So when swapping to the 86 struts we have a really long staring arm. It's like 35mm longer than stock. Not sure what impact that will have but I'm assuming a negative one lol. We might order some t3 arms... These work out to be only a few me longer than stock.

Other issue is the ball joint is smaller on the ke20. Luckily it's a perfect 1mm smaller meaning I could fab a small spacer out of some 1mm stainless sheet I have lying around. This worked really well Smile

Supposedly the strut tops are different spacing, and I was ready to get my redrill on, but as it turns out they fitted fine :/ not sure what happened there but whatever...

I had a great success with popping the stearing arm off the ballpoint but not the central ballpoint Sad

Got my thinkiner on and bam...

Holy shit I and completely forgotten about this place over the last few years.

So, first up ... not dead yet lol. I'm officially in remission according to the docs . I'm still a disability pensioner But a lot more stable these days and able to maintain a little more consistency without ending up in hospital.

The car isn't finished lol. It's upside down and has been for a few years. I made a proper car port for her to stop the water getting in..

The irs is essentially done. And moving onto sorting the engine put. Had to abandon the uz project as I couldn't afford it and had medical bills pulling up. So back for eh cheap skate beams.

Been having a solid crack since the weather has got nicer.

I'll through some teasers up and do a proper image dump tkmorow..

So my water setup needed some debugging.

I hate welding aluminium lol [Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86]

Other adventures....

Here is my solution so far for the Nissan irs in a Corolla.[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86]

I narrowed the cradle 100 mm to keep my track reasonable and help me keep the wheels.

This meant using the short axle in the long side and trimming one axle 100mm.

I didn't have the money for a custom axle just yet, so this is a fairly legit dodgy solution. But it will get it rolling at least.. I trimmed the guts out a d then shrink fitted the old axle spline to the new end. Machines matching reliefs for the c.f. boots and stress softener, then ran a small weld front and back of the spline with a machinabke stainless filler. This has great crack resisting effects, but it's 50 50 to see if it will last lol [Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86]

Got bored trying to die grind the exhaust internals to a decent size .... So welded on a clean flange instead lol.

Lca are now 25mm longer. Thanks mate.

I have realised I haven't left enough room for a clean exhaust oath lol. So gonna have to make some mods to the lower loop.

Also started on a shallow but wider and gated sump bottom. The sump section I had was smashed anyways, and I figure as much clearance as possible is good....

But then I ran out gas lol.

I had ordered 2 of these taco plates, but I ruined the first one and didn't have any money for a second lot.
So I got creative with a few sockets and spare piece of 1.2 stainless I had lol

Not perfect but still worth the effort [Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86][Image: AEU86 AE86 - Family man's ae86]

So I decided, with a smashed lower sump pan, it was a good chance to make a shallow sump.

I was concerned about sump volume, and have been eyeing off the winged sump old mate made in uraguy?

Anyways, this is my poor attempt lol.

I also recycled the stock pans sump plug fitting. And I don't have access to a bender, so it's a bitsa. Totally NOT the right way to do this, but the best I could manage with the materials and tools available to me.
