Engine not idling right
I may have a copy of the old map on my computer, if not I will see if I can go over my E-mails to see if I've sent one to Omex previously.

I have tweaked the idle and it does seem to want to stay running now, but it's still shuddering a fair bit and popping out of the intake. I may have to let it run up to temperature to see if it starts idling better when the map changes.

save you calibaration as a back up

connect to ECU
make a flat ign map 10
adjust idle scatter table to 0
disconnect and idle engine
check timming with timming ligth

if the engine goes up and down you probaly have leak some where

I will look into it. Will have to see what comes of this weekend.

In the first video, the battery voltage is low when running.

Should be around 14V! Is your alternator running and all wires connected to it?

That has since been sorted, as the wire was in the same loop as the ignition connection that was causing the run-on issue.

I may see if I can get some more videos this weekend. Is there any possibility that this could be down to balancing the throttle bodies? Since the pop sounds like it's only coming out of the first intake.

Jezza_hr Wrote:The engine gets idle air from the throttle bodies themselves, there's
no iscv attached. They haven't been tweaked in any way.
Assuming that the throttles have been cracked open by adjusting the
main throttle stop screw between the two centre ITB's, they should be
reasonably well balanced. As a quick check you can use a piece of
garden hose or similar. With the engine idling, and the filter socks
removed, put one end of the hose close to your ear, and poke the other
end down close to the throttle butterfly.

You should hear the "hissing" noise of air being sucked past the butterfly.
Check each one several times and compare the sounds. If some are
louder than others, they are sucking in more air. Hopefully they will all
be much the same. If not, then you will have to adjust the throttles with
the individual throttle stops until they all sound the same = PITA !!

Oh yeah... and probably not a good idea to use the hose if the throttle
is popping while the engine is idling.

Engine not idling right
After some toying around at a little tweaking, it seems the engine is now running sweeter than it ever did. The initial starting of the engine is a little sluggish unless you let a little more air in the engine, but once it's going it's as sweet as a nut. I adjusted the idle, had it running for a little while longer and the backfiring just seemed to clear up. My impression is that it was either carbon deposits that needed clearing or the fuel pressure regulator has eased off and the pressure has come back to normal.

This is typical of all engines that don't have some form of choke or ISCV.
Setting the idle speed by cracking the throttles requires a compromise
between getting enough air into the engine so that it will start when cold,
and not so much air that the idle speed is annoyingly high when hot.

This usually means giving it a little bit of throttle when starting, and maybe
for a minute or two after during winter, until the engine starts to warm up.
