So have throttle over halfway open, but not engine running, correct? (thats what I`ve been doing so far) Smile
Timing belt spot on (double checked, cam at TDC0 inside the head, TDC on cam gears and crank+oil pump+pulley) Ignition timing spot on etc Smile

Again thanks for chime-in`s Smile

You did the diagnostic test as above, throttle half open etc ?

If your light is not blinking when in test mode your ECU is not working properly.

My Problem was the fuel pump, it produce not more than 1,7bar.
I tested the pressure direct on the fuel filter, there must be ~3bar

So the engine starts difficult, and have no power.

so I changed the pump and now the corolla runs nicely

The ECU is mostly not the problem

Well... the AE86 manual says that the Diag. light must blink.... If your light is not blinking...

Best of luck!

Fuel pump is fine, it can do around 5,5-6 bars.
-- Installed Tomei FPR with gauge AFTER fuel filter and still getting good pressure.

I did test as above yes:
--Connected wire to W-pin on ECU as per Early 4A-GE pinout diagram, shorted diagnostics plug, ignition on, + test lamp on W-wire and - test lamp on earth, nothing.
--Changed ECU, nothing.
--Checked harness again, nothing (bad).

Tested lamp on battery, lights up no problem.
--Try different lamp, nothing, test on battery lights up no problem.

Start car, warm up, drive around and hoon no problems no hiccups, no limp no ignition problem no nothing, runs like an absolute champ through all revs, hill climbs in 5th gear with 3.9 final better than large diesel cars, zero problems, good fuel economy.

--Opened both ECU`s, both of which were tested with zero problems before sent to me.
>No blown capacitors, no mis-colorations on PCB, nothing, nice healthy ECU`s by the looks of them and both runs the engine like absolute champs.
--Try test lamp again, nothing.
--Switch ECU again and try test lamp again, nothing.

Start engine on first crank, 2000rpm cold idle and down to 800rpm factory-spec idle, pull out of the driveway and again run like a champ, SILK smooth with no issues.

--Put engine in diagnostics mode with engine running and idle goes down as per factory manual to 700rpm (so diagnostics mode works), put timing light and find that base timing (10 BTDC) is spot on.

--Try test lamp with engine idling in diagnostics mode, nothing.

Sigh..

Hmmmm, can you check if it is overfueling while driving?? (run some kind of wideband to check?)

I'm thinking you might have injectors that are just too big???

Dan -

You can |Sad .... OR you can ask for help!!!

Sorry I got no wideband Sad
But I can go outside and check what colors on the connectors for the injectors (which are usually different!) Smile

Just got to thinking, I did get lambda (wideband) checked with emissions equipment, every time I take my car down to the workshop to get it through emissions after trying something different, it always shows 0.8 lambda which is around 20% overfueling.

Injector connectors are Bright Grey, arent they supposed to be yellow or green or brown or something??

Think same, You need to check injectors how they sprays fuel. Check fuel spray atomization and volume.

Probably only thing I can check is volume and thats if I dont mess up the O-rings (no spares).

Ah, checked out a parts head with injectors still in it, they`re grey also.
Re-checked resistance on the injectors on the engine currently, theyre 2.3 ohm (within factory spec).
So not the injectors Tongue

Also checked and cleaned the parts injectors, theyre 2.1 Ohm resistance (and have been sitting for a while), so they would probably be ganked anyway.
Either way I`ll try them out.

But if Earth on one end of the warning lamp wont work, I might as well try Positive.
I.e Earth on W-pin on ECU, and Positive on 12v+
Would be kinda funny if this is why I cant get the warning lamp fired and people saying bad ECU Tongue
