bad coolant

I found my coolant is contaminated. Is it very bad for this condition?

The contaminant in the reservoir is difficult to clean off, I can't imagine how could I clean it off the whole radiator and engine...

Is this problem common in 4AG?

I am planning to flush the coolant system for a few times to see if the problem could be reliefed. Any suggestion?

Looks fairly normal for a old engine and cooling system.
To thoroughly Flush the system through you can take out the radiator and flush it separately.
Personally I would fill the system with water and run it like that for a few days and flush it all again, finally filling with the right grade of coolant.
Don't forget to open the heater valve to 'hot' before flushing and refilling.

Had that before, there seems to be a problem with 4AGEĀ“s und blue coolant.

Make sure you buy the right pink coolant!

Use pink or green collant in an 4AGE not the blue, as said above before.

Used green after blue, that fucked everyting up, my rebuild engine looked like a 200000miles no service engine with loads off clear gunk, went pink and never had any problems again.

I flushed the cooling system last night:

1. drain old rusty coolant
2. put tap water + radiator flush cleaner, run about 10mins until engine warm
3. drain and flush with tap water continuously for 30mins
4. repeat 2 and 3
5. put tap water, run until the engine is warm, let it sit for 2 hours
6. drain, there is still a little bit rust color but it is way better than the first drain, 10 times better

I now put distilled water with Redline Water Wetter to the radiator. I did not put anitfreeze as weather here will not be freezing.

I know the water inside the engine that blocked by thermostat is still tap water, I will try to drain the whole system next week and fill with distilled water to better dilute the tap water that I scared it would cause problem.

IT Needs a rust inhibitor!!!!!!
It may need cleaning/flushing with chemical - TSP or drain cleaner.
It does not need distilled water.
It does not need 'water wetter'!

Oh, I thought the Redline Water Wetter is some kind of rust inhibitor.
