Ae86 bulk head mod to fit hydrolic clutch?
I was lucky enough to snag an '86 GTS shell with all of the parts and rebuild engine for $1500. I am going to swap all of the parts to my 85 sr5.

As I look at different write ups for swaps I find more and more little tidbits the last write uo did not. I just cam across a thread that said to put in the hydrolic clutch from the GTS I will need to make a Modification to the bulk head.

I have googled my fingers off and couldnt find an explination of what this modification is.

Any help with explaining this would be much appreciated

Thanks,
Frank

Probably nothing more than drilling a few correctly positioned holes.

the only thing i can guess is that in case of a 3A engine, there might be a cable operated clutch instead of a hydraulic, it could be that, but i'm not sure if the american SR5s got a cable clutch box. If it is, it might be interesting for KP61s and other k-powered cars, as it's the same box, but with a 4A bellhousing.

I just replaced my clutch master and slave cylinder dont those only exist on a hydrolic clutch? Im not sure if I have ever worked on a car without one. But that is what the mod is for; going from a cable clutch to a hydrolic one

yes, if you've changed the master and slave, there's nothing else you need to change, because you allready have the right gearbox/hydraulics in the car atm.

So the bulkhead thing is probably for a cable clutch operated car, which aren't very common outside of Japan anyway.

maybe not.........

The SR5 hydraulics are mounted on the left side, because the single cam 4AC's exhaust goes down the right side. This means you need to find a hydraulic line to fit to the bell on the other side now.

Do you think that could be as simple as getting a longer clutch line?
