AE86 ECU Question
The numbers on the ECU are:

89661-12060
175700-0053 12V

I have been told that this is a European MAP ECU. I live in the states, however, and no one is quite sure. I am curious if there is any distinct difference between this ECU (assuming it is a MAP ECU) and the JDM MAP ECU. I'm just wondering if it will work with JDM components. Thanks a lot.

Mike

AE86 ECU Question
The sticker is blue just like the one above. I'm assuming it's a MAP ecu. Now I just need to figure out if it is compatible with any JDM wiring/sensor components or if it has to be utilized with European hardware. Thanks all.

AE86 ECU Question
I just ran the 89661-12060 part number it is for the "EUG" and "Singapore" markets. From my memory those two markets are the ones that had the "other piston" allegedely 10 to 1.

One other thing... it was for VERY early 4AGE powered AE86s... Dates in EUG are from 8/83-5/85 while the dates for Singapore are 2/84-5/85

AE86 ECU Question
So are the Singapore market AE86s similar to the JDM models (aside from some engine internal differences)?

AE86 ECU Question
Does that mean that the ECU would not function with a JDM equiped car though. I know that engine internals are different, but I'm just interested in the electrical functionality of the ECU itself. I mean, US ECUs can run 10:1 with proper mods.

I', running a US bluetop ECU and I've got 10.3 to 1 slugs in my block...

I didn't mean to say you can't... to be honest I don't know!... What I was doing was thinking outloud about that ECU being just EUG and Singapore... like the 10 to 1 pistons from another thread I read recently.......... just connecting threads in my mind
