Oh man that would be super cool, but i guess the travelling would cost me apprx the same as the bottom end alone, so i think i´ll just build it, and then see if i like it. Not a complete waste of money, theres allways a buyer for an engine like that. Smile

thats very true you have not much to lose! it will only take a few days to make and you will be faster i promise! and in the unlikley event you dont like it you will always find a buyer in ae82,ae86,aw11 owners!

further research iv put in sugests going actually for shorter duration cams when the engine has low compression so that to cut a long story short the valves are closed for longer alowing a greater cylinder pressure to be built up. or just go for a shorter exhaust cam? i dont know!
see this link http://www.datsport.com, go to tek section then racer browns camshaft story
other wise putting 4age pistons in will really help your output but will double to work of building the engine!
i have a set of small port cams(the shortest of 4a cam durations) and i will fit them soon and see if they are better!
also the injectors iv found to be best are 4age pink low impedance but im checking out some honda ones at the moment (these will be cheaper and easier to get) so ill keep you posted on that
anyone got any cheap ideas on how to test of there are any gains? i cant aford dyno sessions - might just have to do timed runs?
what do people think about using the small port head on the 7a block will the ports be too small?
i guess its all about testing!

As for now, i´m actually builiding mine with the small port head.
Mostly because i bought an ITB adapter for the smallport, so as you have guessed by now, 20V itb´s will be fitted as well.

In connectiong with that, i´ve been looking into installing smallport pistons as well, as they add extra compression (hence the 140hp performance of the smallport) so that should be interesting.

Other than that i have Fidanza camgears, and Schrick 258 cams to be installed.

I have no idea what all this will add up to, but anything around 160hp and big torque will do it for me Smile

Off course a full balancing of the crank + flywheel will be done to see if that will give me the stability to pull the engine to around the 7500-8000mark just as a precaution. Not that i´ve planned to go there regularly anyways

So thats it for now....
Let me know more when you have additional info Thumbs up!

Hi-comp pistons use 20mm pins - hence you should use also conrods and cranc from hi-comp. engine.

some new news to 7a people

this weekend i spent testing all the camshafts i had on my 7age

blue top cams
small port cams
piper 252duration cams

and guess what . . . . . . the small port cams are the best even more torque from down low!

i also tested using a larger inlet cam compared to the exhaust cam it just made it slower, my testing was a bit 'gheto' so i cant give you any real figures Dumb question

but i think its not possible you have then only 77mm stroke and can use 4ag blockSmile

wiseco build hicomp pistons also for 18mm pins (11,3:1ratio)

The stroke relies just on crank and is the same for 40 and 42mm cranks.

CelicaDrifter from club 4ag built a 7ag thats carbed. Im not sure if hes made a topic about it yet but its probably going to be pretty sick. I also recently read one about a 7agze using a previa super charger 7a block and a large port head with t-vis. I think that guy was in germany. Theres a guy around town running a 7ag, heres a pic, it sits higher and the intake mount doesnt work anymore and cant use a strut bar.
