1994 FWD Corolla
Hey All,

Yups, another admin who's cheating on his AE86 love. My wife had given me orders that our next car should have aircon and be usable as a family car. That kinda rules out the AE86 for me for the time being.

Now I was looking at the commy of my neighboor, 500 bucks but then needed another 500 to 1000 in repairs, and then get rego and all that, I was looking at around 3000 for a big gas guzzling station so I was not sure about that one.
Then another friend offered a Toyota Lexcen, which is a holden commy in disguise. Seriously considered that but the rego on that one would have run out at the end of the month and I was sure it would cost me...

Fate starting to play my hand though, with a baby due in about a month and some other personal matters going on, I needed a car and soon. So I started browsing drive.com.au and ran into a little 1994 Corolla Seca.

I'm breaking all the rules on this one, the add sounded to good and it was pisspoor weather yesterday when I finally got the chance to have a look and the car has way too many km's on the odo (250k). I may well end up regretting buying her. She ain't perfect, I suspect the exhaust needs fixing, on the way home the windscreen wiper motor gave me trouble, and there are one or two wiring issues to resolve. I'm also half expecting to find accident repair marks at some point.

The thing was though, this car looks seriously clean. The story is that the previous owner got divorced and his wife ended up getting the car and trading it in. I really hope I don't run into him if this is true.

Anyways, I haven't taken any pics myself, attached are pics I copied from drive.com.au but they do the car justice.

Owyeah, the add said it was a AE101, uhm not sure but I'd say AE96?

Nice find! Thumbs up!
They are known in the Netherlands as the AE92 liftback but in homeland Japan this is the Toyota Sprinter.
Did you reserve another 1500 for the blacktop+6speed conversion? >Smile

@eircam, well I can always import one from Japan with aircon, no trouble in that. The trouble with em is that they only have 2 doors and we have 2 kids that need to be in child seats. There also is the fact that a 4AC good condition AE86 already costs twice what I paid for this, a 4AG powered, uhm 4x? Big Grin Cheap was on the top of my wish list atm.

That said, when things are still going good here in Ozzie land and I am no longer on a temp visa, I might start thinking of a second car for myself and I would like it to be a hachiroku again.

@aram, what the heck for, it be cheaper to just buy an RWD car Big Grin

@banpei, if I am still happy with the car in a year I might think about doing an engine swap. We'll see how things are by then.

They are called sprinters in Ireland/UK & Japan as banpei said so technically you have a sprinter

I was only joking... I'm still stuck with a 2T powered 3 speed auto Carina for almost 2 years now and I had great plans with it. Wink
